This was my first Arduino project beyond blinky. As a software engineer I’m accustomed to being able to get computers to do what I want them to do through programming. How computers are controlled by such things as buttons on a wall, though, was always a mystery to me. This simple project reveled the mystery and opened the door to a whole new world.
I used what I had on hand, and all I had on hand was the contents of my Arduino starter pack. The project box was an Irish Spring soap box. Monted on it were a tactile momentary switch and a LED (green, ‘natch).
A Processing program displays the first in a series of photos named img_00.jpg, img_01.jpg, img_02,jpg, etc. When the button is pressed an ‘n’ is sent from the Arduino and the next photo is displayed. If the last image is on screen it will wrap to the first image.
This project gave me a sense of accomplishment and confidence that I could work with this thing they call Arduino.
